UASD Barahona Campus Dedicates its 6th Scientific Research Conference to Prof. Erika A. Montero Lebrón, Researcher at Our Institute

Barahona, D.R. — In a moving ceremony recognizing academic excellence and commitment to science, the UASD Barahona Campus dedicated the 6th Scientific Research Conference and the 24th UASD Scientific Conference to the distinguished researcher of the Institute of Physics, Prof. Erika A. Montero Lebrón.
The distinction, awarded to Prof. Montero Lebrón (a native of this province), highlights her "invaluable contribution to scientific research, her example of dedication, leadership, self-improvement, and her firm commitment to academic excellence."
The activity, held on November 28 and 29, 2025, brought together teachers, researchers, and students under the theme: "AI and Cybersecurity: Emerging Challenges for the Science of the Future." The event consolidated itself as one of the most relevant scientific gatherings in the Southern region, with a program that included a keynote lecture, multiple workshops, and over 40 academic presentations.
The opening ceremony was led by the campus authorities: Dr. Manuel Antonio De la Cruz Fernández, Director General; Dr. Ana Lucía Beltré, Academic Deputy Director; Prof. Biridiana Batista, Administrative Deputy Director; and Dr. Mary Janet Díaz Romero, Research Coordinator, who was in charge of the formal presentation of the event.
The opening keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. César Díaz, Director General of Research, representing the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Radhamés Silverio González. Additionally, Mr. Roland Angerer, Director of Plan International Dominican Republic, participated as a special guest and strategic ally.

Prof. Erika A. Montero Lebrón possesses an outstanding track record at the Institute of Physics, leading initiatives in physics education, scientific innovation, and teacher training. Her work has been fundamental in the preparation of more than 2,400 university professors and has played a key role in the curricular redesign of the UASD and the creation of new scientific careers with high national impact.
