Students Associated with the Institute of Physics Selected as Finalists for the 2026 National Youth Award

Santo Domingo, D.R. — The Institute of Physics is pleased to announce that two of its young collaborators have been selected as finalists for the prestigious 2026 National Youth Award. They are José Miguel Rojas Guzmán, a research assistant, and Geisy Camilo Valenzuela, an intern at our institution.
The recognition took place this Saturday, November 29, 2025, during the "Ozama Region Finalists Accreditation Ceremony," an event organized by the Ministry of Youth and held at the Police Institute of Higher Education (IPES) Auditorium.
José Miguel Rojas Guzmán Profile
A Physics student and finalist in the 'University Student Merit' category, José Miguel is currently completing his undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Dr. Melvin Arias. His academic achievements include a research internship during the summer of 2025 at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he published a report titled Simulation of the electromagnetic field inside the ALPHA-g antihydrogen trap.

Geisy Camilo Valenzuela Profile
A final-year student at Don Bosco Polytechnic Institute selected in the 'Pre-university Student Merit' category, Geisy also serves as an official ambassador for the 2025 International Computer Science Competition (ICSC 2025). Furthermore, she leads AstroBosco, a team that secured two awards at the NASA HERC 2025. She is currently completing her internship under the supervision of Institute Director Dr. Vladimir Pérez, developing a software solution to optimize institutional data management and reporting.
